Change Is In the Air...

Vintage packing

It's been ages since I've blogged and I decided, in the midst of the 85 projects I have going on, that I should take a few moments to let you (if you're still out there) know what's been goin' on...

The past few years have brought a lot of changes.  I went back to work in "the real world" ( as-in "not working from home selling vintage and blogging".)  What started out as a two day a week receptionist position has evolved into a full-time PR/Marketing/Fundraising job for a 125 year old non-profit in Providence.  I also have increased my volunteer work and average about 25 hours a month doing what is near and dear to my heart.  In addition to that: I'm the proud mother of a beautiful teenager and yes, I'm still a housewife.  As wonderful as that all is and has been, it has not allowed very much time to devote to my beloved hobby of vintage treasure-hunting & selling.

I've debated for the past year about what to do...the pendulum of indecision has swung from "I'm just going to donate everything" to "I'll bulk-list my entire collection in an eBay Auction" to "I'll have a private sale for vintage dealers and let them shop to their heart's content at wholesale prices"...and everything in-between.  In the end, no solution seems to work because the thought of no longer being involved in the VW (Vintage World), even the tiniest bit, breaks my heart and I feel depressed at the very thought of it.

One thing I will say about myself is that I'm a HARD WORKER.  I give 500% to everything I undertake...and as admirable as that sounds, it can actually be a curse, too.  I ran myself so ragged late this summer I ended up bed-ridden for almost 3 weeks with a FUO - (Fever of Unknown Origin in case you didn't know what that acronym stands for (as I did not.)  I was sleeping up to 18 hours a day. All of my lab tests came back "normal" and multiple mono tests also came back negative.  But I was so exhausted I was out of work for over three weeks; and even now, a month later, I still have brain fog and could fall asleep in a millisecond.  I understand that something has to "give".  I'm coming up on the big 50 (?!) in October and have had to admit that I can't burn the candle at both ends the way I always have.

Who knows what the days, weeks, & months ahead will bring...in the meantime I'll be doing what I can behind the scenes for "Tales" & "The Shoe".  As always, if you are looking for something specific for a party or special event, please EMAIL ME and I'll be happy to check my inventory for you.

xx ~ Michelle
