Ethereal beauty from a fairy tale. This 1950's dress by Starlite Imports is one of the dreamiest pieces I've ever offered (I feel like Cinderella's fairy godmother ;). The color is a blend of lilac & lavender tones, depending on the lighting. The last photo above was taken outside so you can see the colors in natural light. The base layer of the dress is a pale lavender solid synthetic (acetate?) fabric. The bodice and front and back of the skirt is covered with metallic gold and lavender blue embroidery swirls. The front of the bodice has pleated lavender blue tulle across the bust. It has boning in the front and back for extra support. The skirt of the dress has three layers, the base, a drop-waisted very full layer of tulle and then the top layer which is a combination of the embroidered netting and tulle. There are oversized bows on each hip which are made of the same fabric as the base of the dress. The embroidery sweeps up on each side to reveal even more tulle, which gives it that beautiful new look fullness the 1950's are so famous for. The dress has a 14" zipper on the left side, which we had to replace as the original metal zipper had missing teeth and was non-functional. We had to use a modern polyester zipper, but the color matches beautifully and if you really wanted to keep it 100% authentic you could replace it with a vintage metal zipper. Overall, this dress is in amazing condition and, as you can see from the photos, presents beautifully. There's some minor discoloration on the inside of the bodice, and the base of the skirt does have some faded spotting but it's hidden by all the tulle. There are a few small holes in the tulle (one on the bustline but tiny) and there a few areas where the netting was mended (see photos). Due to the fullness* of the dress, they are easily forgiven. The dress is freshly laundered and ready to wear.
