If I could design my ideal vintage 1960's winter-time skirt suit, this beauty would be it. I love the suits from the 60's, but the shorter cropped box style jackets just aren't a good look for me. What I love about this suit is the slim-fit and slightly longer length of the jacket; so flattering. Starting at the top, it has the most insane over-sized soft & plush black fur collar that can be worn flat or raised in the back and sides for extra warmth & dramatic effect. It has a double collar; there's an inner collar about 1.5" high which no doubt helps keep drafts off the back of the neck when the collar is lying flat, and then the fur collar is sewn onto it's own layer of the boucle. It also gives the fur collar a raised, more dramatic effect. The double breasted jacket is darted at the bust, and has multi-panel construction. It has three horizontal frogs across the center front, each with two raised half moon jet black buttons. They are cosmetic only, the jacket buttons with five heavy duty covered snaps hidden on the left side when the right side is pulled over. It cinches in at the waist and has 3" forward facing pleats sewn at the hip on either side which creates an hourglass effect. The sleeves are jewel length; perfect to wear with your favorite elbow length gloves (I think red would look amazing). The skirt is a slim fit midi length pencil skirt with four darts and a 6" metal zipper in the left seam. It's fully lined in black jersey. The hem is finished off on the inside with a two inch strip of black silk all the way around. This suit has the weight and craftsmanship of at the least, a demi-couture suit. The jacket if fully lined in supple silk satin throughout. There's no fabric label, but most likely a wool/mohair blend. If you live or will be traveling somewhere really cold, this would be a perfect suit for you as it is very thick and warm and both pieces could mix and match with other travel basics like black trousers, skirt, turtleneck, etc. Excellent to mint condition.
*I initially thought the collar was faux fur, however I've had input from experts who think it may be real fur, possibly sheared mink, so have adjusted the description for this ensemble, stating simply "fur collar".
