No-one did paisley like the 1980's, and this oversized challis shawl is a perfect example of that. This scarf measures 44" x 46", thus affording numerous options for styling. The solid background is a deep maroon and the oversized paisley pattern has multiple shades of green, orange, brown, and gold with some background areas in off-white which really shows off both design and color tones. The center of the pattern is covered with dozens of one-inch medallions in coordinating colors of army green and tobacco. There is a 1/4" or so fringed edged to it. It is in excellent condition save for what looks like a skip in the dying process which leaves a very thin 2" line that could easily be colored in and will also be easily hidden due to the size and folding options of the scarf. Though unmarked, there is a very good possibility this is a Gucci design based on similar scarves for sale which feature a glued on Gucci label (rather than an imprinted one) which could easily have been removed or fallen off during dry cleaning. There are no tags at all on this scarf; a similar one was 80% silk, 20% polyester. This one may be that, or a very fine wool, it's very soft and drapes beautifully. As I can not confirm provenance, you may be scoring a lovely vintage Gucci piece for a steal. Freshly laundered, pressed & ready to wear.
