In 1968, Hubert de Givenchy launched his Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique label to offer his admirers a more affordable option to purchase his ready-to-wear clothing and accessory designs. That said, his 1989 Fall Winter Collection under this label started at $1500 - so by no means "cheap". The shape and design of this dress is likely from the very early years of the label, and may even be part of his first collection; it has a definitive 1960's empire waist sheath dress style. It's a beautiful apricot colored dupioni 100% silk dress, fully lined with coordinating silk fabric. The bodice is an inverted V high empire in the front that drops into a deeper V in the back, ending just at the natural waistline. The bodice is quite fitted, especially through the bust. The skirt of the dress falls into the slightest A-line flare. It has a 20" back center metal zipper. The metal teeth of the zipper are actually colored to match the dress and it's hand-stitched. Made in France. It's in excellent condition other than a tiny, faint pen (?) mark just below the waist on the left side of the dress (see photo). Freshly steamed & ready to wear.
